Working out to lose body fat is more challenging that a lot of women think which is why you are going to learn the top 3 workouts mistakes that women make.
These are common issues so please don’t feel bad if you realize you are guilty of any of these mistakes. If you see something that you are doing then now is the time to make a change and actually start seeing results.
The More The Merrier. Sound familiar: if you workout twice as much, you will burn twice as much body fat? But this isn’t the case at all. When you workout you’re putting a lot of stress on your body. It’s necessary stress, but it’s stress that your body has to recover from in order to help you drop weight, and tone up.
Without a full recovery you can run yourself down and even end up overtraining. Instead of feeling great, you feel like crud, gain weight, feel depressed and risk injury.
Always rest for one complete day each week. If you’re extremely sore then it’s ok to miss a workout or go very light… it’s your body’s way of telling you it needs extra recovery time.
Cardio Is The Fat Burning Queen. Ever since gym class girls are told that to burn off fat it’s necessary to run for miles or hours at a time for their workout plan. This is completely false, as more and more research is being brought to light which shows that the best fat burning workout is strength training.
Too much steady state cardio will burn off lean muscle and decrease your metabolism. Of course this makes your fat stay on easier. Thank goodness strength training is becoming more common and more recommended for women!
Women Need Nothing More Than Colored Weights. If your gym has an aerobic room or a room for women, it’s probably got a little weight rack with little colored weights But these weights only go up to 10 pounds are so. And for a lot of women, they are fine with it because they think that is all a woman should lift.
I want to say one thing… steel handled weights are not for men. There are not such things as women weights and men’s weights. If you think that lifting lots of light weight will tone you, while heavy ones will man you up, then let’s chat.
Toned is just a more delicate way for a woman to say she wants more muscle. Women don’t have the same hormonal composition or the natural musclular make-up than men do.
To see results you have to challenge your strength and your abilities. If you choose a weight that you can lift all day long and not feel one bit of strain then you’re not doing yourself or your body any good.
So there you have it, the top three mistakes women make when working out at the gym. Look at your workout routine that you’re doing now, do you need to make changes?
